An Ardèche farmhouse,
two centuries of family
At the outset, there was a farmhouse — a building raised stone by stone by a farmer from the plain of Lussas, shaped by his own hands, anchored in the Ardèche earth. In time, the house entered Louise's wider family. It became, in turn, a family home, a rural gîte, a holiday house — always lived in, always passed on.
Generations of local children ran here in the sunlight, played ball beneath the trees, picked fruit from the orchard, invented summers that seemed as though they would never end. In this house, for more than two centuries, there has lingered the scent of fine days, memories carved between friends and family, of simple moments that become eternal.
Louise set out to carry that spirit forward — to preserve the old breath that has lived within these walls for more than two hundred years, and to let it cross the centuries still to come. It is one of the reasons she chose to honour the existing structure, keeping the extension of the mas built from the basalt stone of the Coiron plateau.
The walls were raised from volcanic stone quarried at the family farm of Christine and Philippe, Louise's parents — a dark, dense basalt typical of the Ardèche subsoil. A raw, unchanging material that gives the house its singular strength and tells the story of those who shaped it.
Over the generations, the farmhouse became once more a family gîte — warm, authentic — never leaving the family. Every stone carries the memory of those who laid it, lived within it, loved it and passed it on.
Reborn without
being reinvented
To carry out the renovation, Louise drew on her parents' nearby farm as a base of life and resources. Materials were sourced from the region — basalt stone from the Coiron plateau, Massangis stone, solid local oak, Ardèche terracotta tiles — and laid by local craftsmen, several of whom hold the Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant distinction.
The ambition was to reveal and carry forward what the house already held within it: its soul, its volumes, its light, its silence. Every intervention sought to honour the soul of the building rather than erase it.

Facing the tower
of Mirabel
The Mas enjoys a direct view over the medieval tower of Mirabel — a stone silhouette rising from the Coiron hills, visible from the terraces and several suites of Mas de Louise. A horizon that roots the estate in the long history of this Ardèche land.
Set a few minutes from the village of Lussas (07170) in the Southern Ardèche, the Mas is both secluded and well placed: close to the Ardèche gorges, local markets and the Vivarais wine routes.

every generation
Mas de Louise was conceived to welcome several generations under one roof. One ground-floor suite has been adapted for reduced mobility: no thresholds, a wide-access wet room with walk-in shower, and generous circulation space.
For older guests, those with reduced mobility or families with young children, comfort is not an option — it is simply how things are. The Mas adjusts to every need, without anyone having to ask twice.

The Mas is protected by a comprehensive alarm system — both intrusion and perimeter — so your group can enjoy the estate with complete peace of mind, day and night.
Fire detection is installed throughout the house. These systems are discreet, but their presence is self-evident — because true rest begins when you know everything is in order.
